Remember

Pardon me, but I’m not going to say “Never Forget” this year. Year after year it seems we forget the very next day when the documentaries stop rolling. And at this point it feels like a slogan.

I challenge you to REMEMBER who we were as a country that day, week, month, and that year. Weren’t alive then? Ask someone about it or read below.

You couldn’t turn your head without scanning across an American flag on everything in this country. There was a sense of unity, unlike anything many of us have ever seen.

Remember

No one cared what political affiliation the men and women had who lost their lives that day, who they voted for, and what news channel they watched. It didn’t matter if they were black, white, Asian, Hispanic, liberal, conservative, gay, straight, trans, etc. It didn’t matter what they believed or didn’t. They were us and we were them. And we were simply pissed off and heartbroken someone took the lives of our neighbors leaving holes in our hearts and wreckage on the ground.

Remember

There are now fully grown men and women that lost their parent or a member of their family that day and never knew them. 20 years. If you are fortunate to have children with you today, just know that they are watching and listening and they need to know a nation united like in September 2001. They need to know who we were and who we can be.

Remember.

We have never been more divided and it’s just awful. Even during a global pandemic we can’t get our shit together, be quiet, and just try to find the solutions. We CAN do this together if we really try. We’ve done it before.

Remember.

Forget them and us, the blue and the red, and the left and the right. There is we. We stood together that day. We disagree and that’s okay. We can stand together again.

Have a good day and say hello to the neighbors.

/rant ❤️
